Silene alba

Description

Silene alba brings a soft, easy brightness to the garden, boasting clean white flowers that seem to hover above their slender stems. It has a natural way of settling into planting schemes, filling small spaces without overwhelming its neighbours, and adding a gentle lift from late spring into the warmer months. The blooms open steadily over the season, producing a light, meadow like feel that works beautifully in relaxed borders and wildlife friendly corners.

Also known as White Campion, this is a plant that thrives on simplicity. Give it well drained soil and a spot in sun or partial shade, and it will settle in with very little fuss. Water it regularly while it establishes, then only during dry spells once its rooted in. A quick deadhead now and then keeps the flowers coming, and its airy, informal shape blends beautifully with other gentle, easy going garden favourites, adding a sense of ease wherever its planted.

Please Note: When purchasing plants, please consider that each live item is unique and may therefore differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only. The plant will be supplied in a growers pot. Depending on season, some plants may be pruned back to encourage growth and deciduous plants may arrive without leaves.
