Description
Sanguisorba \’Rock and Roll\’ is a clump-forming perennial featuring striking upright stems topped with deep red, bottlebrush-like flower spikes from midsummer into early autumn. Its finely divided, grey-green foliage forms neat, low mounds, providing a textured backdrop to the vivid blooms. The plants upright yet airy habit makes it ideal for borders, cottage gardens, and naturalistic or pollinator-friendly plantings, adding both vertical interest and long-lasting colour.
The nectar-rich flowers attract bees, butterflies, and other pollinators, enhancing ecological value. It thrives in full sun to partial shade in moist, well-drained soil and is low-maintenance, with occasional deadheading helping to maintain appearance and encourage extended flowering. Non-native to the UK, \’Rock and Roll\’ is prized for its bold summer colour, compact habit, and adaptability in mixed planting schemes.
