Acer palmatum ‘Jerre Schwartz’

Description

Acer palmatum Jerre Schwartz is a compact Japanese maple admired for its finely cut foliage and beautiful seasonal colour changes. In spring, the leaves emerge in rich shades of pinkish-red before deepening to purple-green in summer. As autumn approaches, the foliage transforms into brilliant shades of orange and scarlet, providing a spectacular seasonal display. Its small size, bushy habit, and elegant foliage make it an excellent choice for containers, smaller gardens, or as a focal point in mixed planting schemes.

This deciduous shrub thrives in moist, well-drained, slightly acidic soil and prefers a sheltered position in partial shade, though it will tolerate full sun if given protection from strong winds. Well suited to the UK climate, it requires little maintenance, with only light pruning to shape when necessary. With its compact form, changing foliage, and resilience, Acer palmatum Jerre Schwartz is a versatile and decorative choice that brings colour and structure to the garden across the seasons.
