Description
Salvia nemorosa ‘Rgen’ is a clump-forming perennial with aromatic green foliage and upright spikes of vibrant violet-purple flowers. Blooming from late spring into summer, it provides long-lasting colour and structure in borders, cottage gardens, and wildlife-friendly plantings. Its nectar-rich flowers attract bees and butterflies, offering ecological benefits while enhancing ornamental appeal. The compact, tidy habit makes it ideal for mixed borders, low-maintenance schemes, or mass planting for a striking summer display.
It thrives in full sun in well-drained, moderately fertile soil and is low-maintenance, benefiting from occasional deadheading to prolong flowering and maintain a neat appearance. Non-native to the UK, it is valued for its vivid flower colour, extended bloom period, and suitability for mixed perennial borders or naturalistic plantings.
