Description
Sedum \’Dark Magic\’, also known as Hylotelephium \’Dark Magic\’, is a clump-forming perennial prized for its rich, dark purple, almost black foliage and striking deep pink star-shaped flowers that bloom from late summer into early autumn. The upright stems rise above the textured foliage, creating a bold architectural statement in borders, gravel gardens, or container plantings. The long-lasting flowers gradually mature, adding colour and structure well into autumn.
Thriving in full sun and well-drained soil, this drought-tolerant plant performs well in poor or dry conditions. Its nectar-rich blooms attract bees, butterflies, and other pollinators, enhancing ecological value. Low-maintenance and hardy, Sedum \’Dark Magic\’ requires occasional trimming of spent flower heads to maintain neatness and encourage fresh growth. Its combination of dramatic foliage, vibrant flowers, and reliability makes it a versatile and attractive choice for a variety of garden settings.
