Description
Primula japonica ‘Miller’s Crimson’ is a striking perennial that produces vivid crimson, tiered flower whorls from late spring to early summer. The flowers are borne above a rosette of fresh green, slightly crinkled foliage, creating a dramatic vertical display in moist borders, alongside streams, or in damp woodland gardens. Its upright habit and prolific flowering make it ideal for adding structure and vibrant colour to spring and early summer plantings. This cultivar attracts pollinators such as bees and butterflies, enhancing the ecological value of the garden.
It thrives in partial shade to full shade in consistently moist, well-drained soil rich in organic matter. Low-maintenance once established, it requires regular watering during dry periods to maintain vigour. Although non-native to the UK, it provides reliable ornamental impact and long-lasting spring colour.
