Description
Papaver orientale Little Dancing Girl is a charming oriental poppy, admired for its soft pink blooms with a prominent dark maroon blotch at the centre. The ruffled petals give the flowers a delicate, almost dancing appearance, which contrasts beautifully with the coarse, hairy green foliage beneath. Compact in habit yet still striking in display, this variety brings a graceful touch of colour to cottage gardens, mixed borders, and summer planting schemes.
This perennial thrives in well-drained soil and prefers a sunny position, where it will return reliably year after year. Fully hardy in the UK and easy to grow, it requires little maintenance beyond cutting back after flowering to encourage fresh foliage. Its nectar-rich blooms attract bees and other pollinators, adding ecological value alongside ornamental beauty. Papaver orientale Little Dancing Girl offers a softer, more refined take on the traditional oriental poppy, making it a delightful addition to summer gardens.
