Description
Hosta fortunei ‘Sharmon’ is a medium-sized, clump-forming perennial that offers a dynamic foliage display throughout the growing season. In spring, its leaves emerge with a striking chartreuse center and dark green margins, creating a vibrant contrast. As the season progresses, the center of the leaves matures to a rich green, while the margins remain dark green, resulting in a two-tone appearance. This cultivar is appreciated for its ornamental value and adaptability to shaded garden settings.
In mid to late summer, ‘Sharmon’ produces tall scapes bearing racemes of funnel-shaped, pale lavender flowers. These blooms rise above the foliage, adding vertical interest and attracting pollinators. The plant thrives in moist, well-drained soils and prefers partial to full shade, making it an excellent choice for woodland gardens or shaded borders. Its ability to tolerate more sun than many other hostas adds to its versatility in the landscape.
