Description
Delphinium \’Christel\’ is a tall, hardy perennial valued for its dense spikes of rich violet-blue flowers with darker centres, blooming from mid to late summer. The upright flower spikes rise above clumps of finely divided dark green foliage, creating dramatic vertical interest in borders, cottage gardens, and mixed perennial plantings. Its nectar-rich blooms attract bees, butterflies, and other pollinators, providing both ornamental and ecological benefits.
Thriving in full sun to partial shade with fertile, well-drained soil, Delphinium \’Christel\’ benefits from staking to support its tall flower spikes. Cutting back spent stems maintains a tidy appearance and can prolong flowering in favourable conditions. Hardy, long-flowering, and relatively low-maintenance, this cultivar offers a striking display of summer colour and vertical structure for garden borders.
