Description
Sanguisorba officinalis ‘Arnhem’ is a clump-forming perennial with finely divided green foliage and slender spikes of rich crimson-red flowers. Blooming from midsummer into early autumn, it brings vibrant colour and vertical structure to borders, cottage gardens, and wildlife-friendly plantings. Its nectar-rich blooms attract bees, butterflies, and other pollinators, enhancing ecological diversity in the garden. The upright, airy growth habit adds a graceful texture, making it ideal for mixed borders, meadow-style plantings, or informal designs.
It thrives in full sun to partial shade in well-drained, moderately fertile soil and requires minimal maintenance. Deadheading spent flowers will encourage a longer blooming period and keep the plant neat. Non-native to the UK, this variety is prized for its vivid colour, reliable performance, and value as a pollinator-friendly perennial that combines strength with elegance.
