Description
Roscoea \’Beesiana\’ is a charming perennial that brings a touch of the exotic to summer borders with its orchid-like flowers and lush green foliage. The plant forms elegant clumps of upright stems with lance-shaped leaves, producing pale yellow to cream flowers with delicate purple markings. These blooms appear in midsummer, providing colour and texture in shaded or partially sunny garden areas. It is an excellent choice for woodland gardens, borders, and damp, sheltered spots where it adds a tropical appearance with minimal effort.
Thriving in moist, humus-rich, well-drained soil, Roscoea \’Beesiana\’ prefers partial shade but will tolerate full sun if kept consistently moist. Low-maintenance and hardy, it is well suited to cooler UK conditions despite its exotic look. Non-native to the UK, it attracts pollinators and provides lasting interest in mixed borders or near ponds, where its intricate flowers can be appreciated up close.
