Description
Rodgersia pinnata is a striking perennial featuring large, pinnate leaves that emerge bronze-green and mature to deep green, creating bold architectural interest in borders, woodland gardens, or near water features. In summer, it produces tall, erect panicles of creamy-white flowers above the foliage, adding height, texture, and visual appeal. The combination of dramatic foliage and flower spikes attracts pollinators, offering both ecological and ornamental value.
It thrives in full sun to partial shade in moist, fertile, well-drained soil with consistent moisture. Medium-maintenance, it benefits from mulching and regular watering during dry spells. Non-native to the UK, it is valued for its architectural presence, striking foliage, and ability to provide a dramatic focal point in large-scale or naturalistic plantings.
