Description
Phlomis tuberosa is a robust perennial known for its upright, architectural form and long-lasting flower display. It produces whorls of pale pink, tubular flowers in late spring and early summer, held above large, grey-green leaves that provide year-round texture and structure. The blooms are highly attractive to bees and other pollinators, while the seed heads add visual interest well into winter. Its tall, stately habit makes it ideal for mixed borders, naturalistic plantings, or as a focal point in a perennial garden.
Thriving in well-drained soil, this hardy perennial prefers a position in full sun to partial shade. Well suited to the UK climate, it is low-maintenance and only requires cutting back of old stems after flowering to encourage fresh growth in spring. Phlomis tuberosa combines architectural foliage, long-lasting colour, and wildlife value, making it a versatile and reliable choice for ornamental and ecological planting schemes.
