Description
Persicaria bistorta Superba is a striking perennial known for its long, dense spikes of deep pink flowers that appear from late spring into summer. The upright flower heads rise above broad, lush green foliage, adding vertical structure, vibrant colour, and lasting interest to borders, cottage gardens, or naturalistic planting schemes. Its flowers are a valuable source of nectar for bees, butterflies, and other pollinators, enhancing both ornamental and ecological value.
This hardy perennial thrives in moist, well-drained soil and prefers full sun to partial shade. It forms dense, vigorous clumps that require minimal maintenance, with only a cut back of old stems in late winter to encourage fresh spring growth. Persicaria bistorta Superba combines robust growth, long-lasting colour, and wildlife support, making it a reliable and rewarding choice for UK gardens looking for early summer interest.
