Papaver orientale ‘Miss Piggy’ – 2026

Description

Papaver orientale Miss Piggy is a charming oriental poppy, celebrated for its large, soft pink blooms with a contrasting dark central blotch. The ruffled petals rise on sturdy, upright stems above a mound of coarse, hairy green foliage, creating an elegant yet eye-catching display in early summer borders. Its delicate colour and refined form make it an excellent choice for cottage gardens, mixed perennial beds, or smaller spaces where a splash of gentle colour is desired.

This hardy perennial thrives in well-drained soil and prefers a sunny position, returning reliably each year. Fully suited to the UK climate, it requires minimal maintenance beyond cutting back after flowering to encourage fresh foliage growth. Its nectar-rich blooms attract pollinators, adding ecological value, while the long-lasting flowers provide both ornamental and seasonal impact. Papaver orientale Miss Piggy combines elegance with resilience, making it a delightful addition to summer garden displays.
