Description
Papaver orientale Ruffled Patty is a charming oriental poppy, admired for its large, soft pink, double ruffled blooms with a subtle dark central blotch. The frilled, cup-shaped flowers rise on sturdy, upright stems above coarse, hairy green foliage, creating an elegant and eye-catching display in early summer borders. Its delicate colour and textured petals add charm and visual interest to cottage gardens, mixed perennial beds, and smaller planting schemes.
This hardy perennial thrives in well-drained soil and prefers a sunny position, returning reliably year after year. Fully suited to the UK climate, it requires minimal maintenance beyond cutting back after flowering to encourage fresh foliage. Its nectar-rich blooms attract pollinators, adding ecological value, while the long-lasting flowers provide both ornamental and seasonal appeal. Papaver orientale Ruffled Patty combines grace, resilience, and vibrant summer colour, making it a dependable addition to any garden.
