Description
Papaver orientale Fornsett Summer is a stunning oriental poppy, valued for its large, vibrant orange-red blooms with dark central blotches that create a dramatic focal point in early summer borders. The cup-shaped flowers are held on strong, upright stems above a mound of coarse, hairy green foliage, providing structure and colour to mixed plantings. Its bold appearance and long-lasting blooms make it a standout in cottage gardens and perennial borders alike.
This perennial thrives in well-drained soil and prefers a sunny position, where it will reliably flower each year. Fully hardy in the UK, it requires minimal maintenance beyond cutting back spent foliage to encourage fresh growth. Its vivid flowers attract pollinators, adding ecological value, while its striking colour and architectural form ensure Papaver orientale Fornsett Summer remains a memorable feature in any garden.
