Description
Oxalis triangularis is a tender perennial admired for its unusual and highly decorative foliage. Its triangular, deep purple leaves are divided into three leaflets, which fold down at night and open again during the day, creating a dynamic and eye-catching effect. From late spring to early autumn, it produces delicate clusters of small, pale pink to white flowers that rise above the foliage, adding contrast and charm. Often grown as an ornamental pot plant or in sheltered garden spots, it offers both elegance and novelty.
This plant thrives in well-drained, moderately fertile soil and prefers a sunny to partially shaded position. It is not fully hardy in the UK, so it is best grown in containers that can be moved indoors during colder months. With minimal care, it provides long-lasting interest through both its striking leaves and soft blooms, making it a versatile choice for brightening patios, conservatories, and shaded corners of the garden.
