Description
Nepeta Florina is a bushy, aromatic perennial valued for its long season of bloom and delicate colouring. In summer it produces tall spikes of pale pink flowers with darker pink calyces which rise above attractive green foliage. The flowers are much loved by bees, bumblebees and hoverflies, making it a great choice for wildlife-friendly gardens. Its soft tones bring a gentle, romantic feel to borders, and the plant retains good interest even when not in flower thanks to its lush, textured leaves.
This plant thrives in a sunny, well-drained spot and tolerates a range of soil types, so long as drainage is good. It is relatively low-maintenance: cutting back after flowering helps maintain a neat shape and may encourage some additional bloom later in the season. Fully hardy in the UK, Florina works well in mixed perennial beds, cottage gardens, containers or as a filler in sunny borders.
