Nepeta faassenii ‘Purrsian Blue’ – 2026

Description

Nepeta faassenii ‘Purrsian Blue’ is a compact, mounding perennial that offers a tidy, rounded habit with aromatic, grey-green foliage. In early summer, it produces an abundance of periwinkle-blue flowers with dark purple calyces, creating a vibrant display that continues through to autumn. This cultivar is particularly valued for its uniform growth and low-maintenance care, making it an excellent choice for borders, containers, or as a ground cover. Its extended blooming period attracts pollinators such as bees and butterflies, contributing to a wildlife-friendly garden.

‘Purrsian Blue’ thrives in full sun and well-drained soils, tolerating dry conditions once established. It is fully hardy in the UK, with a compact size that makes it suitable for smaller spaces or mixed plantings. Regular deadheading can encourage prolonged blooming, and cutting back after flowering may promote a second flush. Its aromatic foliage also helps deter deer, adding both aesthetic and practical value to the garden.
