Leucothoe ‘Little Flames’

Description

Leucothoe Little Flames is a bushy evergreen dwarf shrub that provides plenty of colour interest throughout the year. Young leaves emerge a crimson shade of red in spring, contrasting beautifully with the glossy green mature leaves underneath. New growth turns green in summer before the whole plants dense foliage returns to a dramatic crimson hue in autumn and winter. Small white flowers appear in April and May. These are insignificant and dont detract from the striking foliage.

Commonly known as Doghobble or Drooping Laurel, Leucothoe Little Flames has a compact growing habit that makes it perfect for brightening patios and paved areas in pots and containers. However, it also grows well in beds and borders, providing structure and colour contrast, particularly during the grey winter months.

This is a low-maintenance garden shrub that is easy to grow and look after. It is hardy to harsh winter temperatures and thrives in dappled or partial shade.
