Description
Hosta ‘Tongue of Flame’ is a medium-sized perennial that forms a compact mound of narrow, lance-shaped leaves. The leaves are bright lime green with a striking creamy-white centre that adds dramatic contrast. In early to mid-summer, it produces tall spikes bearing pale lavender flowers, adding vertical interest to shaded garden spaces. This cultivar thrives in moist, well-drained soils and prefers partial shade to full shade, making it a versatile addition to woodland gardens, borders, or containers.
Beyond its visual appeal, Hosta ‘Tongue of Flame’ offers ecological benefits by providing nectar for pollinators such as bees and butterflies. Its dense foliage also helps suppress weeds, reducing the need for chemical interventions. With minimal maintenance requirements, it is a reliable and long-lasting choice for gardeners seeking a low-maintenance yet striking plant for shaded areas.
