Description
Hosta ‘Don Stevens’ is a medium-sized perennial renowned for its striking foliage and elegant form. The plant forms a dense, rounded mound of glossy, dark green leaves with broad, creamy yellow margins that gradually mature to white, sometimes exhibiting streaks into the centre. This cultivar, introduced by Mildred Seaver, is particularly valued for its resistance to verticillium wilt, making it a resilient choice for shaded gardens.
In late summer, ‘Don Stevens’ produces tall scapes adorned with clusters of dark purple flowers, adding vertical interest and attracting pollinators. Preferring partial to full shade, it thrives in moist, well-drained soils and is relatively low-maintenance. Regular watering, especially during dry periods, will help maintain its lush appearance. With its distinctive foliage and late-season blooms, Hosta ‘Don Stevens’ is an excellent addition to shaded borders or woodland gardens.
