Description
Hosta ‘Dixie Chick’ is a charming, compact perennial that forms a dense, mound-like clump of glossy, dark green leaves. Each leaf is adorned with a narrow, creamy-white margin, which may widen slightly as the season progresses. The foliage exhibits a subtle sheen, adding to its ornamental appeal. In late summer, the plant produces spikes of pale lavender, tubular flowers that rise above the foliage, attracting pollinators and adding a delicate touch to shaded garden areas.
This cultivar is a hybrid between Hosta ‘Masquerade’ and Hosta ‘Invincible’, known for its vigour and adaptability. It thrives in moist, well-drained soils and prefers partial to full shade, making it ideal for woodland gardens or shaded borders. Regular watering is essential, especially during dry periods, to maintain its lush appearance. Hosta ‘Dixie Chick’ is relatively low-maintenance, requiring minimal care to thrive and provide year-round interest in the garden.
