Description
Hosta \’Tropicana\’ is a medium-sized perennial that forms a dense, clump-forming mound of heart-shaped leaves. The leaves are bright yellow with a creamy yellow margin, transitioning to light green centres and white margins as the season progresses. This cultivar offers a striking seasonal colour change, with the new leaves being yellow and older leaves turning green, creating a dynamic contrast in shaded garden areas. In mid to late summer, it produces tall spikes bearing pale lavender flowers, adding vertical interest to shaded garden spaces.
Beyond its visual appeal, Hosta \’Tropicana\’ offers ecological benefits by providing nectar for pollinators such as bees and butterflies. Its dense foliage also helps suppress weeds, reducing the need for chemical interventions. With minimal maintenance requirements, it is a reliable and long-lasting choice for gardeners seeking a low-maintenance yet striking plant for shaded areas.
