Description
Hemerocallis middendorffii, commonly known as the Amur daylily, is a hardy perennial celebrated for its golden-yellow to orange, trumpet-shaped flowers that bloom in summer. The blooms, appearing on naked stems above clumps of arching, strap-shaped green foliage, create a vibrant and textured display in garden borders and perennial beds. The slightly fragrant flowers are attractive to pollinators and can provide extended interest with occasional reblooming later in the season.
This species thrives in full sun to partial shade with moist, well-drained soil, tolerating poorer soils and offering low-maintenance appeal. Hemerocallis middendorffii is valued both for its ornamental qualities and its wildlife-friendly nature, adding reliable colour and structure to UK gardens.
