Description
Helleborus orientalis Red is a clump-forming, semi-evergreen perennial valued for its rich red, bowl-shaped flowers which bloom from February to April. The striking colour contrasts beautifully with the leathery, dark green foliage, making it a strong presence in shaded borders and woodland gardens. Its early flowering habit provides welcome interest when few other plants are in bloom, offering both colour and structure in the garden.
This cultivar thrives in part shade with moist but well-drained, humus-rich soil. Hardy and resilient once established, it benefits from trimming away old leaves in late winter to improve the display of flowers. Low in maintenance and long-lived, it is an excellent choice for creating seasonal highlights while also providing value for pollinators in the colder months.
