Grape ‘Zilga’

Description

This is a bulletproof, ultra-hardy blue dessert grape that doubles as a spectacular ornamental vine. Beyond providing heavy crops of sweet, slip-skin fruits, it delivers a massive secondary show when its large, lobed foliage turns a breathtaking, fiery crimson red in the autumn. It is incredibly cold-tolerant and vigorous.

To care for ‘Zilga’, plant it in a highly visible location where you can appreciate both the summer fruit and the autumn colour explosion. It thrives in almost any well-drained soil and requires a sunny position to fully ripen the blue grapes. Guide its rapid growth horizontally along sturdy wires, and perform your structural pruning in the dead of winter before the sap begins to rise to avoid “bleeding.”

Please Note: When purchasing plants, please consider that each live item is unique and may therefore differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only. The plant will be supplied in a growers pot. Depending on season, some plants may be pruned back to encourage growth and deciduous plants may arrive without leaves.
