Description
Epimedium stellulatum ‘Wudang Star’ is a captivating perennial that adds both texture and colour to shaded gardens. This cultivar produces delicate, star-shaped white flowers with prominent yellow stamens, creating a soft, airy effect above the foliage. The heart-shaped leaves emerge with a reddish-bronze tint in spring, gradually fading to green with raspberry flecks as the season progresses. Flowering from early to mid-spring, ‘Wudang Star’ attracts pollinators such as bees and butterflies, enhancing garden biodiversity.
Preferring part shade to full shade and well-drained, moist soil, ‘Wudang Star’ is drought-tolerant once established and relatively low-maintenance. Its compact, clump-forming habit makes it suitable for woodland gardens, rock gardens, or as a groundcover beneath shrubs. Regular removal of spent flowers encourages prolonged blooming, while leaving some seed heads provides winter interest and food for birds. With its delicate appearance and ecological benefits, ‘Wudang Star’ is a valuable addition to any garden.
