Echinops bannaticus ‘Blue Globe’ – 2026

Description

Echinops bannaticus ‘Blue Globe’ is a hardy, herbaceous perennial admired for its striking, globe-shaped deep blue flowers that bloom from mid to late summer. The upright stems rise above clumps of spiny, grey-green foliage, adding architectural interest and sculptural form to borders, cottage gardens, and wildflower plantings. Its nectar-rich blooms attract bees, butterflies, and other pollinators, enhancing garden biodiversity.

Thriving in full sun with well-drained, moderately fertile soil, Echinops bannaticus ‘Blue Globe’ benefits from cutting back spent flower stems to maintain a tidy appearance and encourage prolonged flowering. Hardy, drought-tolerant, and relatively low-maintenance, this cultivar provides architectural summer colour and texture, making it an excellent choice for sunny borders and pollinator-friendly gardens.
