Description
Camellia ‘Blood of China’ is a spectacular evergreen shrub, prized for bringing a burst of exotic and vibrant colour to the garden. Its main display comes from the large, semi-double, rich crimson-red flowers that erupt against its deep, glossy green leaves. Perfect for a sheltered, partially shaded spot with acid soil, this plant will provide a truly breathtaking show when few other shrubs are in bloom.
Camellia ‘Blood of China’ develops into a large, upright, and bushy evergreen shrub that is low-maintenance, provided it is planted in the correct conditions from the start. It requires a sheltered position with moist, well-drained, acidic (ericaceous) soil to thrive. Pruning is generally not necessary other than to maintain shape, and this must be done immediately after flowering has finished. Unlike some shrubs, it does not respond well to being cut back hard, and pruning at the wrong time will remove the following year’s flower buds.
Please Note: When purchasing plants, please consider that each live item is unique and may therefore differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only. The plant will be supplied in a growers pot. Depending on season, some plants may be pruned back to encourage growth and deciduous plants may arrive without leaves.
