Description
Bergenia \’Wintergld\’ is a hardy, evergreen perennial admired for its large, glossy green leaves that often develop rich red or bronze tones in winter, providing year-round structure and colour to borders, rockeries, and woodland-style gardens. In spring, it produces clusters of bright pink flowers that attract bees and other pollinators, offering early-season colour and supporting garden biodiversity. Its compact, clumping habit makes it ideal for smaller spaces or naturalistic plantings, combining ornamental foliage with showy blooms for consistent garden appeal.
Thriving in partial shade to full sun with moist, well-drained soil, Bergenia \’Wintergld\’ benefits from occasional removal of spent flowers and older leaves to maintain a tidy appearance. Hardy and robust, it adapts well to a variety of garden conditions, making it suitable for perennial borders, woodland gardens, or as groundcover. Its combination of evergreen foliage, winter colour, and pollinator-friendly blooms ensures it is a reliable and charming addition to any garden.
