Description
Astilbe thunbergii \’Chocolate Shogun\’ is a hardy perennial admired for its rich, chocolate-brown foliage and soft pink, plume-like flowers that bloom from mid to late summer. The striking contrast between foliage and blooms provides a dramatic feature in shaded borders, woodland gardens, or naturalistic plantings. Its flowers attract bees and other pollinators, adding both colour and ecological value.
Thriving in partial shade to full shade with moist, well-drained soil, \’Chocolate Shogun\’ is low-maintenance and tolerant of a variety of garden conditions. The combination of architectural foliage, long-lasting blooms, and pollinator-friendly flowers makes it a versatile and visually appealing addition to perennial borders, mixed plantings, or shaded garden areas.
