Description
Astilbe arendsii ‘Granat’ is a striking perennial known for its upright plumes of deep pink to red flowers that appear in midsummer above dark green, finely divided foliage. Its feathery flower spikes create a bold, textured display, adding both colour and vertical interest to shaded borders, woodland gardens, or pondside plantings. The long-lasting blooms combined with the ornamental foliage make it particularly effective in group plantings or mixed perennial beds, providing continuous visual appeal throughout the season.
Thriving in humus-rich, consistently moist soil, it prefers partial to full shade and benefits from regular watering during dry spells. Low-maintenance and reliable, ‘Granat’ requires only cutting back spent stems after flowering and occasional mulching to retain soil moisture. Its nectar-rich flowers attract pollinators, enhancing both ornamental and ecological value in shaded garden spaces.
