Astilbe arendsii ‘Burgundy Red’ – 2026

Description

Astilbe arendsii ‘Burgundy Red’ is a striking perennial hybrid known for its deep burgundy-red, feathery flower plumes that rise above finely divided, dark green, fern-like foliage. Blooming from mid to late summer, the upright flower spikes create a bold vertical accent in shaded borders, woodland gardens, or near ponds and water features. Its nectar-rich flowers attract bees and butterflies, supporting garden pollinators while adding dramatic colour to shady areas. Hardy and easy to grow, ‘Burgundy Red’ thrives in moist, well-drained soil with partial to full shade, providing reliable long-lasting summer interest. Regular deadheading helps maintain a tidy appearance and encourages prolonged flowering, making it an excellent choice for gardeners seeking vibrant, shade-tolerant displays.
