Description
Astilbe \’Ellie\’ is a graceful perennial known for its pure white, feathery flower plumes that light up shady borders and woodland gardens in early to mid-summer. Its blooms stand tall above a neat clump of finely divided, dark green foliage, creating a striking contrast and a fresh, elegant presence in the garden. With its clean white flowers, it pairs beautifully with hostas, ferns, and other shade-loving plants, adding brightness and texture to damp, shaded spots.
This variety thrives in moist, humus-rich soils and prefers partial to full shade, though it can tolerate some morning sun if the soil is reliably damp. Easy to grow and low maintenance, Astilbe \’Ellie\’ benefits from mulching to retain soil moisture and cutting back old stems after flowering. Its long-lasting blooms are also attractive to pollinators, making it both a decorative and wildlife-friendly choice.
