Description
Anemone hupehensis \’Praecox\’ is a charming perennial valued for its early-flowering nature compared to many other Japanese anemones. From late summer into early autumn, it produces elegant, soft pink blooms with golden-yellow centres that brighten borders and provide an extended season of colour. The flowers are carried on tall, branching stems above a mound of dark green, divided foliage, giving a light and airy presence in the garden. Its graceful habit makes it especially effective in mixed borders, naturalistic schemes, and cottage-style plantings, where it blends beautifully with late-flowering perennials and ornamental grasses. Hardy and reliable, \’Praecox\’ is also attractive to pollinators, providing nectar when many other flowers are in decline. It grows well in moist but well-drained soils, tolerates sun or partial shade, and once established, forms impressive clumps that return year after year.
