Alcea ‘Radiant Rose’

Description

A brilliant, deep pink powerhouse, this variety rapidly builds massive vertical scale and dominates the summer skyline of a garden bed. The highly vibrant, open-faced single flowers are incredibly profuse, marching aggressively up the thick central stem and drawing in passing beneficial insects looking for easily accessible pollen. It is a reliable, high-impact classic that perfectly embodies the lush, overflowing aesthetic of a traditional cottage garden.

If you prefer a slightly shorter, sturdier, and bushier plant rather than a single towering spire, you can pinch out the primary growing tip when the plant is just two feet tall, effectively forcing it to develop multiple lateral flowering shoots instead. During prolonged dry spells, you must provide deep, soaking supplemental water strictly to the root zone; if the plant becomes dehydrated, it will sacrifice its lower foliage, leaving the bottom half of the stem completely bare and unsightly. Clear away any fallen debris around the crown to deter overwintering pests.

Please Note: When purchasing plants, please consider that each live item is unique and may therefore differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only. The plant will be supplied in a growers pot. Depending on season, some plants may be pruned back to encourage growth and deciduous plants may arrive without leaves.
