Ligularia dentata ‘Midnight Lady’ – 2026

Description

Ligularia dentata ‘Midnight Lady’ is a dramatic perennial featuring large, deep purple to almost black foliage that forms an architectural clump in shaded or partially shaded garden areas. Its tall spikes of bright yellow-orange flowers rise above the foliage, creating striking contrast and vertical interest in woodland borders and moisture-retentive beds. The blooms attract pollinators such as bees and butterflies, adding ecological value to shaded garden spaces.

This hardy perennial thrives in partial shade to full shade and prefers moist, fertile soils. Flowering from mid to late summer, ‘Midnight Lady’ is appreciated for its low-maintenance growth, bold foliage, and long-lasting flower spikes. Its combination of dramatic leaves, vibrant flowers, and wildlife-friendly qualities ensures it provides both ornamental and practical benefits in shaded garden settings.
