Description
Veronicastrum virginicum ‘Adoration’ is an elegant, upright perennial that brings tall, architectural form to late-summer borders. It produces slender stems topped with airy spires of soft pink to pale lilac flowers that open gradually from mid to late summer, rising above whorls of lance-shaped green leaves. The overall effect is light and graceful rather than heavy, so it works well as a vertical focal point in mixed perennial beds, meadow-style schemes or alongside ornamental grasses where its height and fine texture can be shown to best advantage.
Ecologically, ‘Adoration’ is valuable for pollinators: bees, butterflies and hoverflies readily visit the nectar-rich flowers through the summer months. It prefers moist, fertile, well-drained soil and a position in full sun to partial shade, gaining vigour from consistent moisture without waterlogging. Maintenance is straightforward occasional staking in exposed sites, cutting back spent stems and dividing congested clumps every few years will keep plants vigorous. Its refined form and long season of interest make it a reliable choice for gardeners seeking both beauty and biodiversity.
