Description
If youre looking for a plant that combines the ruggedness of a succulent with the graceful habit of a vine, Trailing Jade (Kleinia petraea) is a fantastic choice. While it shares a name and those plump, waxy leaves with the common upright Jade, this variety is built to flow. Its fleshy, teardrop-shaped leaves grow along thick, emerald stems that spill beautifully over the edges of a pot, making it a “must-have” for a sunny bookshelf or a hanging basket.
I love recommending Trailing Jade to my neighbors here in Prescott because it is incredibly drought-tolerant and handles our dry air like a pro. Its a slow-and-steady grower that eventually produces small, bright orange flowers that look like tiny pom-pomsa wonderful surprise for any indoor gardener! To keep it thriving, give it plenty of bright, indirect light (or even some direct morning sun) and be sure to let the soil dry out completely before you even think about grabbing the watering can. Its the ultimate “set it and forget it” plant for a busy home.
