Description
Salvia nemorosa ‘Amethyst’ is a clump-forming perennial with aromatic green foliage and upright spikes of rich violet-purple flowers. Blooming from late spring into summer, it provides vibrant colour and structure in borders, cottage gardens, and wildlife-friendly plantings. The densely packed flowers attract bees and butterflies, adding ecological value while enhancing the gardens visual appeal. Its compact, bushy habit makes it ideal for mixed borders and low-maintenance planting schemes.
It thrives in full sun in well-drained, moderately fertile soil and is low-maintenance, benefiting from occasional deadheading to encourage prolonged flowering and a tidy appearance. Non-native to the UK, it is valued for its vivid colour, long flowering season, and ability to bring both structure and continuous bloom to perennial borders.
