Description
Rudbeckia nitida \’Herbstsonne\’ is a tall, clump-forming perennial producing upright stems with glossy green foliage and large, bright yellow daisy-like flowers with dark brown central cones. Blooming from late summer into early autumn, it provides a bold splash of colour that brightens borders, mixed plantings, and wildlife-friendly gardens. Its long-lasting flowers attract bees, butterflies, and other pollinators, offering both ornamental and ecological value. The plants strong upright habit adds vertical interest and structure to garden schemes.
It thrives in full sun to partial shade in fertile, moist but well-drained soil and is medium-maintenance, benefiting from occasional deadheading and support for taller stems in exposed sites. Non-native to the UK, it is valued for its height, vivid late-season blooms, and ability to create dramatic impact in mixed borders or naturalistic plantings.
