Description
Rodgersia pinnata ‘Die Gmunde’ is a robust perennial with large, pinnate leaves that emerge bronze-green before maturing to deep green, creating bold architectural interest in borders, woodland gardens, or alongside water features. In summer, it produces tall, erect panicles of creamy-white flowers rising above the foliage, adding height, texture, and visual impact. Its dramatic foliage and elegant flowers attract pollinators, enhancing both ecological and ornamental value.
It thrives in full sun to partial shade in moist, fertile, well-drained soil, ideally with consistent moisture. Medium-maintenance, it benefits from regular watering during dry periods and mulching to protect its roots. Non-native to the UK, it is prized for its striking foliage, architectural presence, and ability to create a bold focal point in large-scale or naturalistic plantings.
