Ligularia stenocephala – 2026

Description

Ligularia stenocephala is a bold perennial featuring large, lush green leaves that form an architectural clump in shaded or partially shaded garden areas. Its tall spikes of bright yellow-orange flowers rise above the foliage, adding vertical interest and vibrant summer colour. The blooms attract pollinators such as bees and butterflies, enhancing the ecological value of woodland borders, damp garden beds, and shaded perennial planting schemes.

This hardy perennial thrives in partial shade to full shade and prefers moist, fertile soils. Flowering from mid to late summer, Ligularia stenocephala is valued for its low-maintenance growth, striking foliage, and long-lasting flower spikes. Its combination of architectural leaves, vivid blooms, and wildlife-friendly qualities ensures it provides both ornamental and practical benefits in shaded garden spaces.
