Description
Hosta Sagae is a majestic perennial, renowned for its large, heart-shaped leaves with striking variegation. The foliage is blue-green with irregular creamy-yellow to white margins that lighten as the season progresses, giving a bold and elegant effect. The leaves are slightly wavy and held upright, creating a vase-shaped form that adds architectural interest to shady borders. In summer, tall flower scapes rise above the foliage to display pale lavender blooms, which attract pollinators and add vertical contrast.
Thriving in moist, fertile, well-drained soil, this hosta prefers partial to full shade, though it will tolerate some morning sun if kept well watered. Its substantial foliage resists slug damage better than many varieties, making it a reliable and long-lived choice for large borders or woodland gardens. Requiring little maintenance once established, Hosta Sagae is valued for its combination of size, resilience and dramatic appearance.
