Hosta abiqua ‘Drinking Gourd’ – 2026

Description

Hosta abiqua ‘Drinking Gourd’ is a hardy, shade-loving perennial admired for its large, blue-green, textured foliage that forms dense, mounded clumps. In mid to late summer, it produces spikes of pale lavender flowers that rise above the leaves, adding light texture and seasonal interest. Its bold leaf colour and substantial form make it ideal for shaded borders, woodland gardens, or underplanting around trees and shrubs.

Thriving in partial to full shade with moist, well-drained soil, ‘Drinking Gourd’ is hardy and low-maintenance. The ornamental foliage provides year-round visual appeal, while the seasonal flowers attract pollinators and support garden biodiversity. Its combination of dramatic foliage, reliable growth, and seasonal blooms makes it a versatile and attractive choice for adding structure, texture, and cool tones to shaded garden areas.
