Description
Hosta \’Gypsy Rose\’ is a captivating perennial that adds a touch of elegance to shaded garden spaces. This cultivar, a sport of the popular Hosta \’Striptease\’, features large, glossy leaves with a bright yellow centre that transitions to a creamy white, bordered by wide, dark green margins. The foliage forms a dense, mounding habit, making it an excellent choice for borders, woodland gardens, or as a specimen plant.
In mid to late summer, \’Gypsy Rose\’ produces tall scapes adorned with pale lavender, bell-shaped flowers that attract pollinators like hummingbirds and butterflies. This hosta thrives in moist, well-drained, organically rich soil and prefers partial to full shade, though it can tolerate some morning sun. Once established, it is relatively low-maintenance and can withstand light drought conditions, though it performs best with consistent moisture. Notably, \’Gypsy Rose\’ was introduced by J. Anderson of Winterberry Farms in 2003 and has since become a popular choice among gardeners.
