Heuchera americana ‘Velvet Night’ – 2026

Description

Heuchera americana ‘Velvet Night’ is an evergreen perennial celebrated for its rich, deep purple to almost black foliage that forms dense, rounded clumps. In late spring to early summer, airy sprays of small, bell-shaped flowers rise above the foliage, providing delicate seasonal interest and enhancing the dramatic contrast of the leaves. Its striking colour and compact habit make it ideal for borders, rockeries, woodland gardens, or container plantings.

Thriving in partial shade to full sun with moist, well-drained soil, ‘Velvet Night’ is hardy and low-maintenance. The combination of ornamental foliage and subtle seasonal flowers adds year-round appeal while supporting pollinators. Its resilience, bold leaf colour, and versatile growth habit make it a dependable choice for adding texture, depth, and visual impact to a variety of garden settings.
