Description
Hemerocallis ‘American Revolution’ is a dramatic daylily cultivar admired for its large, velvety red blooms with a deep maroon to near-black centre, giving the flowers a rich, bold intensity. Blooming in midsummer, its trumpet-shaped flowers stand out above mounds of green, strap-like foliage, creating striking colour contrasts in borders, mixed perennial plantings, or cottage-style schemes. Its nectar-rich flowers are attractive to pollinators such as bees and butterflies, enhancing its ecological as well as ornamental value.
This cultivar thrives in full sun to partial shade, preferring fertile, moist but well-drained soil. It is hardy, dependable, and requires little maintenance beyond the removal of spent blooms and occasional division of established clumps to maintain vigour. With its bold colouring and reliable flowering, Hemerocallis ‘American Revolution’ brings depth and dramatic flair to summer garden displays.
